For the second May Bank Holiday we returned to Holywell Bay, Cornwall. We had visited the area last year for Easter and this year Lol, Nay, Nuts, Ken and I piled ourselves and the surfboards into a car and set off for the coast.
After 5 and a half hour drive on Friday night we arrived at the caravan park. The following morning the boys were up early in search of a wave, however, it wasn't too be. This was very unfortunate as there was an excess of energy in a rather small setting as the weather was not in our favour.
We set off to Newquay, the hen's and stag party capital of Cornwall and also the closest town to Holywell Bay for supplies - a wander around the town sealed our belief that there are many far better towns in Cornwall to spend time in.

We returned to Holywell Bay and walked down to the beach to check out the surf (not great) and then went in search of a pub

After our drink in a very local pub with a very low roof we went back to the caravan, the boys played poker while Lol and I drank wine and cooked a chicken in our little oven, we managed to polish the bottle before the chicken was ready! It did take quite a while to cook!

The next day the weather was better and Lol and I went out for a morning walk along the cliffs while the boys went for a surf, that night we met up with friends who were also in Cornwall for the weekend for dinner at the St Piran's Inn.
After dinner, the boys wanted to check the surf again and Lol and I took them on our walk along the cliffs.

The following morning the boys got another surf in before we got back in the car to drive back to London. It was only a short trip but it was so good to be out of the city and at the coast again and to completely relax.
The boards have now been packed away, Ken was most upset as he is not sure when he will next have it out. Croatia and Italy are our next holidays and they won't be required though I'm sure it won't be long before there is another surf trip on the card
